Dr. Ashraf Mohamed Sheta is an experienced mentor and academic expert in entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, small business development, and family business. He works closely with entrepreneurs, SMEs, corporations, and policymakers, helping them design sustainable strategies, build entrepreneurial capabilities, and lead organizational growth.
He is also a board member of several organizations. Through his mentorship,, he has led capacity-building programs for leading international and development organizations, including GIZ, UNESCO, the European Union, USAID, ILO, IOM, Executive Education at the American University in Cairo (AUC), and the Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership (WEL) Program developed by the Wharton School of Business.
In addition, Dr. Sheta serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family Business and has held visiting and adjunct academic positions at numerous institutions, including the American University in Cairo, Nile University, ESLSCA, the German University in Cairo, Cardiff Metropolitan University (MBA Program), and the Arab Academy for Science & Technology. Throughout his academic career, he has taught thousands of students, supervised hundreds of MBA projects, and developed innovative academic curricula. Notably, he pioneered the first university-level Family Business course in the Middle East.
As a recognized pioneer in case writing, Dr. Sheta has authored and co-authored more than 50 teaching cases focused on the Egyptian and regional business context. His contributions have received international recognition, including the EFMD Case Writing Award for Family Business (2019) and the Second Prize of the AUC/Emerald Case Writing Competition (2020).
Dr. Sheta has also played a key leadership role in advancing entrepreneurship ecosystems in the MENA region. He is a founding member and former President of the Middle East Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE), an ICSB Academy instructor, and former Vice President of the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB), where he contributed to shaping Egypt’s national private-sector development agenda in collaboration with CIPE.
